Serving our members and our community.
In 1928, local independent agents
established a professional insurance association to support and promote
the American Independent Agency system.
The Association was formed for educational purposes and for the
exchange of constructive ideas among its members.
It also sought to protect the public from unethical business
practices and to assure each member maintains a high standard of ethics
and conduct.
The Central Florida Association is
affiliated with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents and the
Independent Insurance Agents of America.
The Central Florida Association is the largest in membership of
the Florida local associations. In
fact, its membership is larger than many state association’s
membership.
Membership consists of independent
agencies which are engaged in the business of property and casualty
insurance. The
characteristics of an independent agency are:
ownership of a book of business, operation on a commission pay
basis, maintaining a good business reputation, and experience and
training to represent the types of insurance offered.
Associate membership is available for the companies that the
members represent and for any business that provides services to the
insurance industry.
For its members, the Association
offers:
-
Monthly
Luncheon Programs to educate the members about current insurance
or community issues and provide an opportunity for exchange among
the membership.
-
Legislative
Representation and Information to ensure that the independent
agents’ legislative position is heard and to inform members of
important legislative issues.
-
Insurance
Education Seminars to ensure that members maintain a high level
of expertise in the insurance field.
-
Big
“I” Day to provide an opportunity for members and associate
members to socialize at a golf tournament and evening event.
For its community, the Association
offers:
-

a high school program, to teach young consumers about the
independent insurance agency system and offer scholarships for
higher education.
-
Speakers
Bureau to educate businesses and individuals about their
insurance needs.
-
